Christine Wilson, RN,

Master Trainer and founder of GYROTONIC® San Luis Obispo, Christine holds a Masters degree in nursing from the University of Munich. In addition to rigorous training in the medical field, Christine studied Body and Dance Conditioning under Marie-Jose Blom and is a certified Pilates instructor. She moved to San Luis Obispo in 1999, bringing alternative forms of fitness training and rehabilitation to the Central Coast. Her lifelong interest in movement brought her to train with Juliu Horvath, the developer of the Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods. Christine is a Certified Master Trainer in both of these methods, as well as the Gyrotonic specialized equipment. For the last sixteen years, Christine has dedicated her advanced training to alternative medicine and rehabilitation, most notably the treatment of scoliosis. She works with exceptional intuition and patience with clients and students in the US and abroad, while mentoring her staff to provide functional, life-affirming therapy and education.

Nancy Rodgers

Nancy Rodgers came to Gyrotonic San Luis Obispo as a client and stayed on as teacher. Before joining the Studio, she taught English and founded the Women’s Lacrosse team at Cal Poly. Work at the Studio combines her love of education with a love of fitness. The twin disciplines of Gyrokinesis and Gyrotonic exercise are fascinating in their unlimited application, she adds, and approach to exercise as a pleasurable activity has great appeal.

Nancy is certified in Pilates mat, Pilates Reformer, and the Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods. She lives in San Luis Obispo with her family.

Deb Perkinson

Deb Perkinson is a certified Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis Trainer, instructor for the Scoliosis Program, certified in Gyrotonic Leg Extension Unit and Pilates.

She bridges Gyrotonic methodology with Aquatic Integration (AI), a clinical water-based technique that promotes body movement and alignment. Deb became interested in Gyrotonic exercise because as a weight bearing, 3-dimensional exercise protocol, it gently opens joints and releases restricted muscle tissue. While encouraging the body’s innate healing abilities, Gyrotonic methodology is significantly amplified when AI is part of the same regimen. Additionally, it assists in promoting natural bone growth, deep muscular strength and overall body stability. We all heal at our own pace and Gyrotonic methodology helps to set and improve that pace.

Deb’s healing arts expertise includes many years of experience with Reiki and Quantum-Touch® as well as Ayurvedic Pulse Diagnosis.

Matt Bebermeyer

Matt Bebermeyer began teaching the Gyrotonic Method in 2008 while living in Lansing, Michigan. He began his exploration of movement while studying modern dance and ballet. He has been dancing professionally for eleven years. His dance mentor introduced Matt to Gyrotonic 5 years ago. He immediately saw the potential for physical and mental development that could be applied to many aspects of life. Matt utilizes his knowledge of dance as a model to create a learning environment that is relaxed, engaging, and fun. He encourages clients to find a deeper understanding of their body as it relates to principles of movement, while teaching self-awareness, body control, articulation of joints, and mobilization of the spine through the Gyrotonic method. He is excited to share his journey with Gyrotonic San Luis Obispo.

DARRYN CROSS

Although relatively new to the Gyrotonic method, she has a broad educational background including degrees in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology, and Chinese Medicine. Darryn looks forward to helping others realize the benefits through this unique form of movement as she completes her apprenticeship at Gyrotonic San Luis Obispo.

leslie otto

Leslie Otto was first introduced to Gyrotonic while living in Asheville, NC. After years of working as a pastry chef, Leslie decided that she wanted to step away from the high stress world of the food industry and find a healthier way to work and live. She became certified in both Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis, as well as Pilates, and began sharing her love of movement and fascination for how the body works. Leslie is also certified as a Franklin Method Level 1 Educator - a system that uses imagery and simple exercises to increase body awareness and functional movement. Leslie is excited to be joining Gyrotonic San Luis Obispo and sharing her knowledge and experience with others.
